From a classic point of view, SARMs, as the full name suggests, are substances that are selective. This means they explicitly, dock onto the androgen receptors in the body and develop their effect. Androgens are a class of hormones that belong to steroids. The most prominent example of an androgen is testosterone, which is the male sex hormone in the body. “Androgen” means that these substances have a masculine effect, which manifests itself in the primary and secondary masculine gender characteristics (beard growth, deeper voice). Due to their selectivity, however, SARMs can also have a very specific effect on the respective receptors only in certain tissues. Another use is for burn victims or Crohn’s disease patients to improve their regeneration and quality of life. As discussed earlier, the exogenous intake of these hormones is not free from potential side effects. A female burnt victim, who is receiving testosterone therapy to accelerate wound healing, could experience male sexual characteristics, beard growth, widening of the jaw, enlargement of the clitoris, and a deeper voice.
Is SARMs Legit?
Total SARMs Nutrition is used illegally in weight training and bodybuilding for the same reasons as they are used in medical research. The focus here is on building muscle, maximizing fat loss without losing significant amounts of lean mass. They have the potential for fast recovery from injuries through increased bone metabolism and muscle mass. However, some athletes also use SARMs to lose less muscle mass between steroid or prohormone regimens without getting in the way of the hormonal axis recovery. Another potential advantage of SARMs nutrition over steroids is that they are available orally and do not need to be injected regularly into the muscles or subcutaneous fat. Although there are also orally available steroid derivatives in the world of doping abuse, in the majority of cases these have a special compound that makes them resistant to breakdown in the liver. More precisely, one speaks of 17-alpha-alkylated steroids, in which an alkyl group is attached to the alpha position of the 17th carbon atom. However, it is also this chemical modification that makes the substance toxic to the organ, which is why such substances are nowadays hardly of any clinical relevance. In contrast, SARMs do not require such a change and are therefore not toxic to the liver, at least not via this mechanism.

Even if steroids and prohormones can lead to rapid and strong increases in muscle mass and strength, depending on the dosage, they put a considerable strain on the body. In most cases, it leads to a number of side effects. Among other things, the risk of prostate cancer, hair loss on the head, acne, increased body hair growth, gynecomastia, high blood pressure (hypertension), poor liver and cholesterol levels in the blood, heart muscle growth, and suppression of the body’s own increases
A further side effect of exogenous steroid intake is the suppression of the body’s own hormone production.
